Counselling
COUNSELLING is a form of psychotherapy, often for people undergoing some sort of crisis in their lives, but also for long-standing mental and emotional problems. Counsellors help by giving you their complete uncritical attention, which is therapeutic in itself. Through carefully directed questioning they lead you to find your own solutions and give you back a sense of control. With couples and groups they can act as a sort of referee, turning painful conflicts into constructive discussions.
Many counsellors have specific training in dealing with particular issues, or special knowledge that can help you make difficult decisions. Areas covered include bereavement, rape, finances, addictions, medical issues, partnership and family problems, sexual difficulties, and problems with study or work. Counselling is available over the phone as well as face-to-face.
